Full Version: Saving data from forum.stratego.com
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Since the forum will be going down soon ™, for those wanting to have a personal copy or re-post things at http://www.strategocommunity.freebb.nl/ you can with a few simple actions, save posts/threads.

NOTE 1: This only saves the current page. While clicking on "page 2" will work, it links to the current forum.. so you can guess what happens once that is gone.

So, make sure you do the download action for each page of a thread you want to save.

NOTE 2: Anything hosted on forum.stratego.com will not be available after it goes down. Images come to mind. Any image hosted on imgur, imgboard or anything else, should remain.

Method 1
At any post:

Method 2
At the bottom of a thread:

Many, if not all, forum posts older than [an uncertain amount of time, maybe 6 months?] are available at https://web.archive.org/web/202010250442...atego.com/. Profiles, I think, will be lost though.
Dear all duped,

A prosperous, healthy and happy New Year to all !!

Although perhaps not the ideal correct topic post here,
consecutively following the end of our so beloved game alas for the past decade,
i would like to point out that i was pointed out at NOS nl today,
on the site BlueMaxima.org. Flashpoint
This site seems to have built an database of games with also other
Adobe dependent games, but onon a different client.

Perhaps somebody {Pim ?} may contact them in order to retrieve help
and trying to restoring our Stratego.com ?

With kind greetings,

DRVNP

Thanks, you and all other Stratego fans, a pleasant 2021 too.

Yes, you can back-up flash games using said method. The main problem however lies within the server going down, meaning you will not be able to exchange data (e.g. moves.. or even log in at all) once that has taken place.

This occurred every time I tried either this method or the other from my Android phone.
I just tried it too, using mobile (Android) device. Got the same result.

It does work on the PC version just fine though, just tried it again. Not sure what causes it. It might easily be a security setting disallowing html files to be downloaded onto (y)our mobile devices.
Thank you.
I successfully did this on my PC today, but the result is merely that I have a download copy of the webpage on my computer. It appears just like the current page and all the buttons still operate. It certainly looks great. But it doesn't seem like this result will be around when all is over. I guess I thought the page I wanted would be saved as a generic text file of some kind. Have I missed a step?
If you turn off your internet access and then open the page you'll get a preview of what it will look like once the forum is gone.

Note: You have to do the export action for each page of a thread. Say there are 104 posts in one thread and you choose to back-up the first page.. you will only have the first 20 posts (assuming the 20 posts per page view)
Thank you again.
I have downloaded everything under the Rules section. And I have downloaded everything under the Announcements section. I have downloaded most of the Reports section but was unable to download the 21 page Disconnectors topic and also the 28 page Questions and Discussions topic. Neither had the download button at the bottom of the screen. If you can download these two large topics, that would be everything. Why would they not have a download button?

The Disconnectors topic, in particular, contains the important opening announcement of the new policy on marking posts there. It would be great to save that.
Yes, some of the threads, seemingly at random, don't offer the download function.

Some offered it via clicking on the > icon next to the post number.. while others had to be downloaded by scrolling down.
