It's been a couple days now since the old forum died. I would have expected much more activity here because of that, but this place seems like a ghost town. Where is everyone?
I’ve been kinda wondering this too. You and I seem to be the only ones posting threads somewhat regularly. Also the occasional thread from Nortrom, Fairway, Admin and Morx, but definitely not as much activity as the old forum. I tried my best to spread awareness of this forum, but I suppose some amount of decreasing users was always going to be inevitable.
I also want to add that this forum does not show up in the Google search results if you do a search for “Stratego forum” so it’s possible that some users simply forgot/lost the ability to access this forum when the links that were posted went down with the old forum.
Unfortunately, the Stratego community was (and is) quite divided and a lot of people opted to not migrate to this new forum due to personal disputes or vendettas, concerns about management, or plain disinterest in the game in general after the end of the original forum. It's quite sad that not everyone from the community came here, but also, keep in mind that many won't see the need to participate in a forum without an easily-playable game.

And, yes, the old forum going down, along with the widely-published link to this forum therefore disappearing, doesn't help.

If you try to get into the old forum, you go to stratego.com/home where a "message from the team" can be seen. If someone knows who can be told about the following suggestion, that message from the team can be modified by adding a link to this new forum.

This is not much, but it´s more than nothing.

This is absolutely sad. All of us have in common the interest for this game.
Since Fairway and Edmond Dantes think my posts are unproductive and annoying, I have watched from the sidelines.

I am glad that the game is still playable in Adobe's standalone Flash Player.
Well, people are still playing Stratego, but it looks like they're not allowed to discuss those sites here, so that doesn't leave as much to discuss other than the actual game itself and the possibility of an "official" site that may or may not ever come to be.
The new site, if it does come, will be non Flash will be good, but what will it look and feel like is the question. and will our win / loss records be migrated over ?
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd drop a message to say hello and I'm still here. I've been busy with work and study going to start soon, but still floating around in the background Big Grin.
Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start!

.
This still seems to be the case as of today anyway.
Things don’t really seem to be improving lately. In fact, I’d say things appear to be getting worse. Hopefully we get some concrete news about a new official alternative site very soon, or else I fear the remaining community will essentially be completely dead... Idk, maybe there are a lot of people on Discord or something, but it’s really not looking good.
The old forum was a comfortable and pleasing place to be. this place, not so much.
What makes you say that? There certainly seems to be less pointless bickering here, that’s for sure. Maybe that’s because there are much less users here, but I haven’t found this forum to be too unpleasant so far.
The old forum had a better look and feel due to custom technology.

I liked the old forum better also, but this is a wonderful substitute. It couldn't be much closer to the old one, though I do miss the color ranking badges. I was always shooting for the clean look of the gold colonel. Ironically, I finally made it back there this week...but, alas, no badge...Big Grin

Mick of Youdagames, that two year God, always hated the old forum. I think he and his programmers had problems tying it into the new app software. Whatever it was, he never had anything good to say about it.
Would there be any negative consequences for the on going project if a little more information about it was publicly provided?

For example:
- We already have a company for software development / we are still negotiating.
- We are still in the design phase / we are already programming code.
- Etc.
We understand the desire for major updates, we've shared what we're able to share at this given moment.
